Getting there matters

Transport is one of the most common barriers NDIS participants face. When you cannot drive or use public transport because of your disability, everyday commitments like medical appointments, work, study and social plans become hard to keep. Our travel and transport support removes that barrier.

Support staff can transport you to your destination, accompany you when you get there if needed, and help you plan journeys with confidence. For participants who want it, we also build travel skills: learning routes, using go cards, and practising public transport with support until you are ready to do it independently.

How transport is funded in the NDIS

Transport funding in the NDIS has a few layers. Your plan may include a transport allowance paid periodically, and support worker time for travel can be funded through your Core budget when it relates to your goals. The rules have detail, and we are happy to walk you through what your plan allows.

Frequently asked questions

Does the NDIS fund transport?
Yes, in a few ways. Some participants receive a periodic transport allowance in their plan. Support worker assistance with travel can also be funded through your Core budget when it relates to your plan goals, such as getting to appointments, work or community activities.
Can you take me to medical appointments?
Yes. Transport to and from medical and therapy appointments is one of the most common ways participants use this support, and your support worker can stay with you during the appointment if you would like.
Can you teach me to use public transport myself?
Yes. Travel training is a great use of NDIS funding. We practise routes with you, from planning the journey to tapping on and off, until you are confident to travel independently.
How far will you travel?
We support participants across Brisbane, Ipswich, Moreton Bay, Logan, the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast. For longer one-off journeys, talk to us and we will see what we can arrange.
Is transport support available on weekends?
Weekend and evening transport can be arranged in advance. Tell us your schedule and we will build the roster around it.
